Where the wild things are trailer

A trailer for a movie version of Maurice Sendak's classic picture book Where the wild things are was released a few weeks ago. It looks wonderful.

Bring on the wild rumpus!

(If you are unfamiliar with the story, you can always watch President Obama read it to the crowd at the White House Easter celebration.)

Student recommendation: The Qwikpick Adventure Society by Sam Riddleburger

A couple of weeks ago, I made up some Mad Lib-style recommendation sheets for students to fill out for a favourite book at the library. They caught on quickly and I now have almost two dozen posted on the bulletin board with the recommended books displayed on a table below. I thought it would be fun to share some of the recommendations with you (preserving the students' privacy, of course). I've certainly enjoyed them!

Medieval resources at the PRES library

Every year, the grade 5's do a unit on the Middle Ages and, thankfully, I've been on top of it enough to have a decent collection of fiction and nonfiction books about Medieval life, from knights to art to technology.

I've also compiled a list of appropriate websites on the topic that I've included below (direct from the PRES library Delicious site).

Great topic!
